MP Bonita Zarrillo responds to the IRGC being listed as a terrorist organisation

“For months, New Democrats alongside Iranian-Canadians, including the families who lost loved ones in Flight PS752, have been urging the government to stand up for human rights and declare the IRGC as a terrorist organization—but the Liberals did nothing for nine years.

Today’s announcement that the IRGC will be listed as a terrorist organization brings great relief to all the families and human rights advocates who have been tirelessly fighting for this day to come. I’m hopeful that this will bring some peace of mind to Iranian Canadians across Port Moody-Coquitlam, and all of the Tri-Cities, who live in fear of this brutal regime.

This is an effort that’s been led by Iranians in Port Moody-Coquitlam and across Canada. This will send a clear message that we are united on this and will not stand by while human rights violations are committed.”
