NDP calls out Liberals for failing to invest in better public transit
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In response to the federal government's announcement of the Public Transit Fund, NDP critic for Infrastructure Bonita Zarrillo (Port Moody—Coquitlam) issued the following statement:
“People in Metro Vancouver and all Canadians want better public transit. The transit they rely on to go to work, school, or visit loved ones is struggling to keep up with demand. People in Vancouver should have accessible and affordable public transit, but the Liberals' delayed funding won’t support Metro Vancouver’s transit expansion plan - or even maintain what currently exists.
Justin Trudeau had nine years to step up and invest in transit—but he didn’t, now he’s making people communities wait even longer. And don’t count on Pierre Poilievre to fix transit when he will cut investments altogether. New Democrats want to change the rules so people can get reliable, accessible, affordable transit that will help us tackle the climate crisis, and create good paying jobs.”
