COQUITLAM —On Saturday, Canada’s NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh was in the Tri-Cities holding a town hall to hear from residents about the issues that impact their families and communities. Joined by local NDP MP Bonita Zarrillo, Singh also spoke about how the NDP fought to deliver dental care for seniors, teenagers and Canadians living with a disability.
“It was great to meet with residents in the Tri-Cities this past weekend and hear about the concerns that they have. New Democrats are listening and we’re pushing this government to get help that people need,” said Singh. “Left on his own Justin Trudeau won't act to help Canadians facing rising food, rent and monthly bills costs. New Democrats had to push the Liberal government to double the GST and deliver dental care for children under 18, seniors and people living with a disability. We fight for you and your family every day in Ottawa, and we won’t stop.”
Singh and Zarrillo also talked about how the Liberals are letting the corporate greed of rich CEOs' drive grocery prices through the roof. Even worse, under the Liberals' watch, CEOs like Galen Weston are getting astronomical raises while profiting off the backs of workers whose wages aren't going up.
“Canadians are doing everything right. They’re playing by the rules and yet, they can’t keep up with the soaring cost of living. It shouldn’t have to be this way,” said Zarrillo. “Liberals and Conservatives aren’t in it for you and your families. They would rather make it easier for wealthy CEOs to get raises while hard working people fall further and further behind. New Democrats are focused on making your life better with things like dental care. We are on your side.”
