NDP MP Bonita Zarrillo calls on the Liberal government to include seniors and people with disabilities in $250 rebate

OTTAWA —On Monday, NDP MP Bonita Zarrillo (Port Moody-Coquitlam) urged the Liberal government to fix their newly announced $250 rebate so that it doesn't exclude seniors and people with disabilities.
After New Democrats announced they would permanently take the GST off essentials, the Liberals caved to the demand but with a watered-down version. The Liberal’s plan is not the permanent and substantial support people need.
While the Conservatives cut supports Canadians need and these Liberals continue to let Canadians down, New Democrats would deliver the real relief that Canadians need.
Here is MP Zarrillo’s question:
“Seniors and persons with disabilities are hardest hit by rising costs driven by unchecked corporate greed. Because they live on fixed incomes and already struggle to pay for medication and groceries. Yet the Liberals excluded them from their planned 250-dollar rebate. We know Conservatives cut supports Canadians need, and these Liberals always let people down.
Will the government get real, reverse this cruel and callous decision, and ensure seniors and persons with disabilities also get the relief they need?”
