Flight attendants—80% of who are women—are working an average of 35 hours per month without pay, while airline CEOs earn millions off this exploitation. No one should be forced to work for free. Workers are not compensated for boarding, pre-flight preparation, safety checks, or delays. For years, under consecutive Liberal and Conservative governments, this injustice has been ignored and accepted as business as usual.
With the introduction of my Bill C-415 Flight Attendants’ Remuneration Act, the government has the opportunity to address this issue immediately. It is time to demand action.
